SNOWMOBILE RACES COMING ON JANUARY 22
(Hartford, OH)…Northeast Ohio is well-known for its lake effect snow machine that gets going in earnest every winter. Northeast Ohio is also home to one of the nation’s top short-track auto racing facilities. Combine snow and Sharon Speedway and you have the inaugural “Circle Track Showdown” Snowmobile Races on Saturday, January 22 at 11 a.m.
The highly-anticipated event will be put on by Sharon Speedway and will feature seven different classes amongst three different age groups.
The competing classes will include the 400cc and under, 401-500 cc, 501-600 cc, 601-700 cc, 701-800 cc, 801+ cc, and the vintage class. Any sled with modifications must run in the 801+ class. The three competing age groups per class will include 12-14 year olds, 15-17 year olds, and 18 and older. Helmets are required! Hay bales will be setup around the 3/8-mile track.
“This is something new we want to try,” explained Sharon Speedway GM Dave Willoughby. “Every year we are asked about having snowmobile races at Sharon. So we did some research, worked with our insurance company, and put this deal together with the Ohio State Snowmobile Association. I’m really looking forward to it as are the good folks at the O.S.S.A. We’re expecting a great turnout and if things go well, we may try another one in February. There are a lot of dirt racers and fans that love snowmobiling in the winter so this should be a fun deal for everyone!”
There will be a $20 registration fee per class. Registration forms will be available on the website.
Gates will open at 9 a.m. with racing at 11 a.m. Adult all access facility admission will be just $5! Children 12 and under are free! The no snow make-up date will be Saturday, January 29.
