(Hartford, OH)…Sharon Speedway has added another major event to its 96th anniversary season as the Super DIRTcar Series for Big-Block Modifieds will invade the Hartford, Ohio oval on Monday, August 11 for a $10,000 to-win event! Also on this two-division blockbuster show will be the Hovis Auto & Truck "410" Sprint Cars racing for $4,000 to-win! The event is made possible thanks to the following sponsors Capital Renegade Custom Coaches and Trailers, Al Heinke, Thermo Supply, Russ King Racing, King Sanitary, and King Bros.
The event will mark the third visit to Sharon by the Super DIRTcar Series, the premier traveling Big-Block Modified tour in the world. In 2016, Jimmy Phelps topped a 52-car field for $6,000 in their first race in the western Pa./eastern Ohio region since 2006. In 2017, Australian Peter Britten drove from the 20th starting spot to take the lead on lap 54 and went on to his first career SDS win, worth $6,000. Prior to the 2016 event, the last time Sharon hosted a major Big-Block Modified event that attracted the Northeast's best was back in 1983 when Alan Johnson won a CRC Super DIRT Syracuse Qualifying Series event.
Sharon was to host a Super DIRTcar event again in 2019 paying $7,500 to-win, but Mother Nature washed out the show. This year's event will pay $10,000 to-win easily making it the richest race in the history of Big-Block Modified racing at Sharon. Sharon has hosted 643 Big-Block Modified races all-time with 97 different winners. The late Lou Blaney leads the list with 121 victories, while Rex King, Jr. is the top active winner at 28. A total of seven Big-Block Modified dates now make up the 2025 schedule as in addition to the SDS show, the ground-pounders will also appear on May 31, June 21, July 26, August 2 in a BRP Tour show for the "Lou Blaney Memorial", August 9, and August 23.
The Super DIRTcar Series is coming off a tight championship battle in 2024 where Mat Williamson beat out Matt Sheppard for the $60,000 title. The August 11 event will feature Modified racers from all over the Northeast, Canada, and the East Coast taking on the region's best.
For the first time, the "410" Sprint Cars will join the card with the Super DIRTcar Series. Midweek Sprint Car shows at Sharon have always attracted a large number of competitors and with no other event throughout the region, a strong field is expected. This event is part of an expanded schedule for "410" Sprint Car racing in 2025 as all events will pay a minimum of $4,000 to-win.
Reserved seats are $35, while general admission is $30, students 13-17 are $10, and kids 12 and under are free. Tickets are now on sale for the event through World Racing Group at the following link: https://mpv.tickets.com/?agency=WRG_SDW_MPV&orgid=53929&eventid=124313. VIP fan suite and patio seats along with camping permits can be purchased through Sharon at the following link: https://sharonspeedway.simpletix.com/ For those unable to attend, the event will be streamed live on DIRTVision.
