September 24, 2025
(Hartford, OH)...Sharon Speedway will close out the 96th anniversary season this Saturday night (September 27) as the World of Outlaws NOS Energy Drink Sprint Car Series invade the 3/8-mile Hartford, Ohio oval for the Federated Auto Parts Showdown. The Alcon Mechanical Econo Mods will also be part of the show. Warmups will begin at 6:30 p.m. followed by qualifying and racing.
Saturday will be the season's only appearance in the eastern Ohio/western Pennsylvania region by "The Greatest Show on Dirt" and the final one of 2025 in the Buckeye State. Unfortunately, Mother Nature has claimed the last two scheduled WoO shows at Sharon including the May 24 event as well as this event one-year ago; however, Saturday's weather is looking perfect with sunshine and temps in the upper 70s.
The last time the World of Outlaws competed at Sharon was on May 18, 2024 when David Gravel pocketed a $12,000 payday for his first career Sharon win. The WoO completed both events at Sharon in 2023 as the May show was won by 10-time Series Champion, Donny Schatz, for his first Sharon "410" feature win. Brad Sweet topped the September show for the second straight year in route to his fifth Series championship. In 2021, Dave Blaney won in spectacular fashion over Sheldon Haudenschild for his 95th career WoO win, but first since 1997!
Prior to 2021, the World of Outlaws last appeared at Sharon on June 1, 2007 when the "King of the Outlaws", Steve Kinser, scored the victory. Kinser leads the way at Sharon with four WoO wins, while aside from Sweet, Danny Lasoski is the only other repeat winner with victories in 2002 and 2004. Besides Gravel, Schatz and Blaney, other WoO winners at Sharon with one victory include the retired racers of Jac Haudenschild (2006), Jason Meyers (2005), and Joey Saldana (2002).
Entering this all-Ohio WoO weekend (Millstream Speedway on Friday night), defending Series Champion, David Gravel, sits atop the standings. Gravel, who also leads the Series in victories at 14, has a 150-point lead on 11-time winner, Buddy Kofoid. Carson Macedo also has double digit victories in 2025 with 10 and is third in points. Two-time 2025 winner, Logan Schuchart, is fourth over Ohio fan favorite Sheldon Haudenschild, who also has two wins.
Schatz will look for his first win of 2025 as he's teamed up with Jason Sides for the first time this weekend, and despite already competing in four different rides, Schatz is still holding on to sixth in points. Bill Balog has had a solid sophomore season on the tour winning three times and is seventh. Positions 8-14 are made up of WoO rookies with Garet Williamson leading the way over Chris Windom, Cole Macedo, Hunter Schuerenberg, Zach Hampton, Skylar Gee, and Conner Morrell. Two other substitute drivers for platinum teams that will be on hand include Kerry Madsen aboard the Tony Stewart Racing #14 and Emerson Axsom in the KCP Racing #18.
The World of Outlaws will bring 16 full-time teams to Sharon on Saturday to take on the very best throughout Ohio, western Pa., and beyond. Sharon has completed just six Hovis Auto & Truck Supply "410" Sprint Car events in 2025 as the World of Outlaws, Western PA Speedweek, and the Ohio Speedweek All Star Circuit of Champions events unfortunately all fell victim to Mother Nature in addition to the July 26 Bala Management "Super Series" event. The average car count in those six events is 30.
A.J. Flick ended a two-and-a-half-year winless drought at Sharon winning the May 10 opener. Dale Blaney then won the next two events aboard his brother Dave’s famous red #10. Danny Dietrich won his first “Lou Blaney Memorial” on August 9 worth $13,000. Two nights later, Brandon Spithaler got the monkey off his back with his first career Sharon “410” win. And most recently, Cap Henry, who is having a career best season throughout Ohio, won his fourth career race at Sharon in his 2025 debut on August 16.
Also on the program are the Alcon Mechanical Econo Mods racing for $800 to-win. The Econo Mods have completed seven events this season. Coleton Longwell leads the way with three victories including the most recent worth $1,200 on August 23. Joe Gabrielson is the only other repeat winner, while Brendan Warner and Garrett Calvert have one win each. The Econo Mods have averaged 28 cars per event this season, and another strong field expected Saturday in their final race of 2025.
Summit Racing Equipment will present the hard charger award to the Econo Mods. The driver that passes the most cars in the feature will receive a $100 Summit gift card. In the event of a tie, the tiebreaker will be the driver that finishes highest in the feature.
The Performance Bodies "Nosed Out" program will award a $100 Performance Bodies gift card redeemable only at Wedge Motorsports to a driver in the Econo Mods. The recipient will be the driver that most closely beat out another competitor for any finishing position on the lead lap in those divisions. Tiebreaker will be the driver with the best finishing position.
There is no Sharon registration fee for Econo Mods. One-way driver radios are mandatory; channel 454.000. AMB/MyLaps transponders are required; rentals available for $25.
